2024 Art Show June 15th
I AM so happy to announce my sophomore solo art exhibit! BOUNDLESS: Celebrating the Uncontainable Power of Black Women This artistic adventure is a deliberate departure from the familiar, a conscious effort to challenge myself and try new things. I mindfully immersed myself in new materials letting their textures guide the narrative of my creations. Each painting is a reflection, a meditation, and an expression of the uncontainable power of Black women. Here, young girls and women break free from the frames that society has put them in. They keep themselves wrapped by choice but even then, their creativity and spirit still break through. Join me in my celebration of…

Don’t Slip: The Art of Creating Balance
Working overtime painting for my upcoming art show has shown me the importance of balance. While I’ve been so focused on creating the art, I have let other areas of my slip. There’s dishes in the sink, laundry is piling up and what’s a friend? So I set out to achieve it or at least find a process to work towards achieving balance. I read articles and made memes of inspirational quotes. What? Did you say something? I thought that those things cured everything! Basically, that’s what I found. A whole lot of nothing but a bunch of lists of random mind fuck techniques. Nothing truly inspiring. Nothing got past…

The Art of Turning Struggle into Creativity
Most people think that if they’re struggling, that means something is wrong. I’d like to propose a different view: that struggle is the place of growth, learning, curiosity, love, creativity. Struggle is…

The Art of Starting Over and Over Again
There’s a hope that when we start creating a new habit that we’ll master it and never have to worry about it again, or when we start a new project that it’ll go perfectly. Unfortunately, life never goes according to our plans. We travel, and eating and exercise habits go out the door. We get sick, and our meditation habit falls off. We have visitors, and our creative project falls into a deep abyss. I know from my own experience that habits and projects are a messy affair. We get good at building and maintaining 5-6 habits, or we get off to an amazing start with a new project, and…

The Art of Breaking Up With Your Problematic Fav
I’ve always said that I’m nobody’s fan. A phrase that’s dripping with ego and needs to be dealt with at a later time. I would look down from my high horse when folks would learn of their favs being embroiled in scandals. I would sit on the sidelines with my popcorn and watch the cognitive dissonance blossom. Occasionally chiming in only to dip back out before I the conversation got to deep for me. Smh and scrolling by the online train wrecks. As, yet another scandal regarding RKelly pops up, I feel the same way as I did the last time he was on some shit, disgusted and yet not…
